Capcon had a heavy presence at the 2012 New York Comic Con as you may expect. What I was looking most forward to learning more about was undoubtedly Remember Me. Other Capcom stuff has had loads of limelight, Remember me has been sitting in the dark waiting to strike.
The panel included member form the publisher Capcom and developers Dotnod Entertainment who are working together to bring us Remember ME to the PS3, 360 and PC and is set to hit the shelves May 2013.
The game is to be set in Neo Paris in 2084, the future has taken the current age of social media and blown it up into something dark and disturbing. Remember Me sees a future where people record their memories through implants called Memoreyes. You think it was bad if the government had access to your phone line right? With everyone’s most personal and secretive memories all turned into data, that data then become a commodity. This is where our lead lay comes in, Nilin.
Remember Me panel at New York Comic Con 2012
Nilin steals memory for a living. She not only whisks them away in the night but also manipulate them. But when her own memory is erased she does on a mission of self-discovery and revenge. She will use at least three styles of gameplay to accomplish this. You will bounce between a uncharted style movement and travel system, good old hand to hand combat and a touch of memory remix mode that will play out like a adventure game puzzle of sorts.
Remember Me looks nothing like anything else Capcom is building at the moment and really looks as those they are taking a great interest in the Western games market no doubt thanks the development work done by the Dontnod team. With other similar titles like Watch Dogs coming out is may possibly be a rough ride but the games I feel have enough about them to stand apart and be successful.
Remember Me has an interesting premise, a believable and dark bad drop and form the looks of it interesting game play so look forward to it. We are at DG!
