Most of you may be sitting at home this evening, Mike, Jeremy and myself have braved the cold weather and headed down to my local GAME store for a God of War: Ascension lock in event, I got here early so I could chat to the Sony reps and the staff and soak up the atmosphere.
If you’re a fan of the God of War franchise then there is plenty to be excited about the latest instalment Ascension. The prequel to the best-selling God of War franchise is a tale of vengeance and betrayal, 6 months have passed since Kratos was tricked into killing his loved ones. Having sworn an oath to the gods Kratos is bound in chains and battles in a bid for redemption.
The demo that we got to play puts you in the boots of Kratos, you’re told the basics and then your let loose to rain some hell on some unsuspecting goat men, which you then systematically rip apart. One of the finishing moves was literally to rip their heads off by pulling on their horns, gore galore! You get to use a variety of weapons as the demo teaches you the necessary skills to navigate and stomp your way through the game.
The demo culminates with an EPIC battle with an elephant…daemon…thing, which is apparently called a Juggernaut. I have to say this is one of the most gruesome boss battles I have ever played though, only to be told it’s not a boss at all then you take a leap into the ocean to take on the Kraken! This demo left me really wanting more…so give me more!
A big thanks to GAME and Sony for putting on these events, they build a great community spirit and excitement for great games such as God of War: Ascension,.
PlayStation have already unleashed the demo across the PlayStation Network available to download for all the PS3 people out there, please note the demo we played this evening wasn’t the same one as the downloadable version on PSN.
Right, the pizza has arrived and I’m intent on getting to that pizza before the staff and customers decimate it, that mighty meaty has my name on it.
